    • Clean and de-scale the machine or change the CLARIS plus filter cartridge when instructed to do so in the display.
    • Wipe the machine surface with a damp cloth or wipe the coloured front panels with the JURA caring cloth.

    Integrated cleaning programs

Your IMPRESSA X9 Win has three integrated cleaning programmes. They enable optimum cleaning and dissolving of coffee fats inside the machine:

    • MILK SYSTEM CLEANING:
If speciality coffees with milk are prepared, we would recommend performing milk system cleaning daily. The process lasts about 2 minutes.
Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Milk System Cleaning button. The current maintenance status is displayed. Press the Milk System Cleaning button again. START MILK SYSTEM CLEANING appears on the display. Press the Milk System Cleaning button to start the cleaning operation. Now follow the instructions on the display. In addition to milk system cleaning, you should remove, dismantle and rinse the dual spout.

    • COFFEE SYSTEM CLEANING:
The machine must be cleaned after 220 preparations or 80 switch-on rinses. The process lasts about 20 minutes. The message "i" is displayed. We would recommend performing cleaning within 24 hours of this message appearing. Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Coffee System Cleaning button. The current maintenance status is displayed. Press the Coffee System Cleaning button again. START COFFEE SYSTEM CLEANING appears on the display. Press the Coffee System Cleaning button to start the cleaning operation. Now follow the instructions on the display.

    • COMBINED CLEANING:
With combined cleaning, milk and coffee systems are cleaned as part of the same process. Milk system cleaning and coffee system cleaning are performed one after the other. The process lasts about 22 minutes. The message "i" is displayed. Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Combined Cleaning button. The current maintenance status is displayed. Press the Combined Cleaning button again. START COMBINED CLEANING appears on the display. Press the Combined Cleaning button to start the cleaning operation. Now follow the instructions on the display.
    • Note: The dual spout is automatically rinsed ten minutes after milk is prepared. This rinse is signalled by an audible signal. The setting can be changed by the JURA service technician.

    Integrated descaling program

The descaling programme of your IMPRESSA X9 Win can be started with or without a display prompt.

Note: Please remove the filter from the water tank during the descaling programme. If the filter remains inserted, the coffee becomes unpleasant, because the filter becomes filled with descaling solution.

    • With a display prompt:

The message "i" is displayed. Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Descaling button. The current maintenance status is displayed. Press the Descaling button again. START DESCALING appears on the display. Press the Descaling button to start the descaling operation. Now follow the instructions on the display.

    • Without display prompt:

Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Descaling button to start the descaling operation. Now follow the instructions on the display.

    • Note: If DESCALING remains displayed for a long time, this means the descaling programme was started with too much liquid or water was replenished before the tank was empty.
    • Tip: Start the descaling programme again with 0.7l water. All the water in the water tank is sucked out during the programme. Please do not fill the water tank until the display prompts you to do so.

If DESCALING appears on the display even though the filter has been inserted, the machine was not changed over to using a filter.

    • Tip: Remove the filter and run the descaling programme. Contact your JURA service partner if you want to operate the machine with a filter.
    • Note: Please remove the filter from the water tank during the descaling programme. If the filter remains inserted, the coffee becomes unpleasant, because the filter becomes filled with descaling solution.

Note: The Filter button is only active when the amount of water for the filter has been set to 50 l. If another amount of water is set, the filter can only be changed by a JURA service technician.

The filter change programme of your IMPRESSA X9 Win can be started at any time in two ways:

    • With a display prompt:

The message "i" is displayed. Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Filter button. The current maintenance status is displayed. Press the Filter button again. INSERT FILTER appears on the display. Insert a new filter and press the Hot Water button. FILTER IS RINSING appears on the display.

    • Without display prompt:

Precondition: Your IMPRESSA is ready for use. Open the cover for the programming buttons and press the Filter button. INSERT FILTER appears on the display. Insert a new filter and press the Hot Water button. FILTER IS RINSING appears on the display.

Note: The water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to health.

The first installation of the CLARIS filter cartridge must be carried out by the service engineer. Please contact your JURA Gastro service partner.

    Coffee taste and coffee temperature

    Coffee taste:
Are you dissatisfied with the coffee taste? A poor coffee taste may be due to the following possible causes:

    • Coffee strength: The coffee strength for the product in question is not set according to your taste. Please note that the coffee strength can be selected individually for each product in programming mode.
    • Grind setting: If your coffee tastes too weak, you can select a finer grind setting to extend the extraction time. If your coffee tastes too strong or too bitter, select a coarser grind. The grinder can be adjusted while it is running using the setting rings on the bean containers.
Please note: We would normally recommend a coarser grind for dark roasted beans.
    • Pre-brewing time: The pre-brewing time affects the coffee taste. Contact your JURA service partner to adjust the pre-brewing time to your individual needs.
    • Coffee beans: Your coffee beans are "sour". Empty the bean container and fill it with fresh beans.

    Coffee temperature:
Is your coffee not hot enough? A coffee temperature that is too low may be due to the following possible causes:

    • The coffee temperature has not been programmed to HIGH. Please note that the temperature can be programmed individually for each preparation button (LOW, NORMAL or HIGH).
    • Machine has built up limescale deposits: If you are not using a filter cartridge, your machine might have built up limescale deposits. Check the water hardness, programme the machine accordingly, and perform descaling.
    • Tip: Prewarm your cup!

    Milk foam

If the milk no longer foams, we would recommend performing MILK SYSTEM CLEANING.

    • Tip: If speciality coffees with milk are prepared, we would recommend performing MILK SYSTEM CLEANING on a daily basis.
    • Tip: Use the special JURA Cappuccino Cleaner for cleaning.
    • Tip: Ensure that all parts of the spout are assembled correctly and tightly fitted.
    • Note: The fat content of milk does not influence frothing. It is also possible to use low-fat milk.
    • Tip: If you are not using a filter cartridge, run the descaling programme because calcium deposits in the pipes can impair steam preparation.

    Display and text messages

    DESCALING appears on the display.

    • Descaling programme is run.
    • The descaling programme was started with too much liquid or fresh water was replenished too soon. All the water in the water tank must be sucked out during the descaling programme.
    • Tip: Perform the descaling programme again with 0.7 l water.

If SELECT PRODUCT / FILL BEANS / LEFT GRINDER or RIGHT GRINDER is continuously displayed, this could be due to the following causes:

    • The IMPRESSA is once again ready for use following a preparation.
    • The sliding catches (locks for the bean containers) have been closed.
    • There may be foreign objects in the grinder.

    CHECK BEAN CONTAINER is displayed:

    • The sliding catch of the bean container is not completely pulled forward. The grinder cannot draw in any coffee beans. Pull the sliding catch completely forward.

    ERROR is displayed:

    Caramelised coffee beans

To ensure that your machine provides satisfaction for a long time and to avoid repairs, please note that the grinder on your JURA coffee machine is not suitable for coffee beans that have been treated with additives (e. g. sugar) during or after roasting.

Use of such coffee mixtures can result in damage to the grinder. Any repair costs incurred as a result are not covered by the warranty provisions.
